There's a reason this is referred to as "the Grand Cru of the Languedoc." This wine is so complex, and so beautiful, it's hard to believe that it's still under $50. The nose, even this young, is wildly expressive: herbs, from a more "vitamin-y" component to a touch of sage, jump out from the glass. On the palate, that herbal note continues, along with black licorice, dark fruits, pencil lead, and a subtle minerality. This has amazing structure, and needs at least 5 years, if not a decade. THE great wine of the Languedoc.

tasted 6/07 ( 1 month after bottling) Robe - The most profound deep purple color I have ever seen. nose - Stuffed with ripe wild berries, some cherries, cassis, truffles, leather and some hog breath. it is mesmerizing and expressive. palate. filled with ripe dark fruit, truffles, a little wild boar shit. It is outstanding. it jumps between being a bordeaux ( 80% cab sav, 10% merlot) to a deep burgundy showing the beautiful hill it came from, to the wildness of a great Chateauneuf de Pape. I cannot say enough about this wine. It is so generous and open right now. I assume it will close down over the next few years and emerge as a new beast around 2014. So damn good! I bought a bottle after the tasting for my cellar. I wish I bought more
