Marquis Philips 2004 Shiraz
(over 2 years ago)Very rich, very dry and very dark fruity flavors. Agree with the description above regarding blackberrys and plums. It's very reminescent of the rich spanish wines, Barolla, Barbara and the french Chataeu Nuff de Pape. If you're eating steak, cheese, or just sitting in a mahogany panelled room in a red leather wing back chair smoking a cigar reading the New Yorker, this is the wine for you.

(about 1 year ago)Crazy purple color. Tons and I mean TONS of oak on the nose. Plenty of black fruits, (plums, blackberry, black currant) and some tobacco and spice as well. I normally wouldn't like this much oak, but it's very smooth and doesn't overpower the fruit with creamy vanilla carrying it throughout the long finish.

(about 1 year ago)lovely nose... VERY lovely, lingering finish... not a bad middle, either... nice tar slathered all over the berries, revealing just a touch of sweetness. dash of black pepper. very solid Shiraz.
