This is a stunning Cotes-du-Rhone, with deliciously ripe fruit (mostly Grenache, as with the Chateauneuf) and plenty of meaty depth. Old vines endow this wine with a sappy, complex mid-palate and a long, sumtptuous finish -- more impressive than many a Chateauneuf-du-Pape at twice the price!

2005 Montueil la Levade Cotes-du-Rhone
(about 1 year ago)Earthy and fruity wine. Bouquet is powerful, if a bit coarse. Opens with cherry, spice and earth, After about 15 minutes in the glass, chocolatey mocha flavors appeared. More complex than you'd expect for this price. Good value.
