Allegrini 2001 Palazzo della Torre
(over 2 years ago)Reminded me of a certain Rioja I had in that it was a bit overwhelming at first, but opened up and settled down after a while and became much smoother and flavorful. For the price it's definitely a bit more complex and robust than usual. Overall, a good wine to check out.

(over 2 years ago)Terrific stuff. Robust, full bodied wine. Full fruit, tannin-rich finish and nice balance. good with food, great alone.

(over 2 years ago)What a mouthful! Medium bodied with the weight to challenge the limits of its class. Plenty of fruit, notably plum and cherry. A nice rush of acidity is there to keep the fruit in check, and keep the flavors sailing along. There is a nice mineral feel as well. Oak is assertive without being overdone. Lots of floral notes of dried flowers and herbs. Mature round tannins transition to a silky smooth and lingering finish. Buy this one now!

(over 2 years ago)Kevin's favorite. This wine is deep and soft.
Allegrini 2001 Palazzo della Torre
(about 1 year ago)Dense ruby red color. Earthy nose with tar and a hint of licorice. Soft full mouth feel with soft tannins, hints of sour cherry and licorice on the palate with a lingering finish.
