This is a solid effort, with very little extraordinary to recommend it, but also with very little especially wrong about it. I have perhaps been a little harsh with the rating due to the fact that nothing really made me stand up and take notice. The nose is essentially non-existant, with just a hint of cherry. The high alcohol content is what is most noticable aspect of the pallet. The tannins are also mostly hidden. They are there, just barely, but for a 2006 Zin, much more is expected. The bottom line for this one is that it is a solid effort, that wouldn't turn many people off, but there are much better efforts at this price point. I am affraid that this falls into the Budweiser category; constructed more to avoid objection than to garner affection.

Very brambly and spicy, but without my preferred offsetting sweetness. Nice, but not the best Joel Gott vintage I've had.

The selling point on this is the taste of mesquite barbecue sauce. It's very earthy but lacks a certain balance to the finish which would really push it to the next level. Enjoyable, though not spectacular.

Amazing nose. Crazy with strawberry and cherry from the beginning. Softens up nicely with subtle spice, but overall fruity flavors all the way through. Not what I would call a "sweet wine", yet deliciously fruity. Had another glass the day after I opened it and got an awesome veggie component in the mid-range.
