A self described Terroir driven unfiltered style, so I would have to say that nature was good to this wine. A bit heady at first so let it breath a bit and you'll be rewarded as it settles down and reveals its entire flavor. Licorice, black plums and black cherries are up front on the palate. Chocolate and tar are present mid palate. I paired this with some Montgomery cheddar and I was very happy.

The Domaine La Garrigue 2004 Cotes du Rhone Cuvee Romaine, a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% syrah, is deep, dark-ruby in color with hints of purple lightening slightly towards the edges. It had a powerful nose, blending dark fruits such as black plum and a hint of blueberry with licorice and spice. The palate was fruit-forward with hints of cranberry in the tannins and a medium-bodied and supple mouth feel. The finish was fine, long and clean.

Call this 3.5 stars- still very young and tight, and hard to tell which way this wine will go. Great nose and mouth feel, I found it to be a bit harsh on the palate, however.

Very unique character, but not my cup of tea. Definitely an Old World style wine. Nose: This is probably why I don't like this wine. I used to have a rat when I was little and sometimes I would forget to clean its cage. Hate to say it, but this wine reminds me of that smell...Extremely Musky. Mouth: Bell Pepper, Curry, and a little bit of cherry.

lots of tasty old world funk from nose to finish. along with the euro love-must, the pallet got well coated with black cherry and something that reminded me of kingston's match-light charcoal. i was bothered a little by the amount of heat that came through on the gulp, but this is likely something that will vanish in a couple years. extremely good value around one hamilton + one washington.

Some nice musty shower towel, red fruit, and funkytown on the nose. Firm tannins, and some black cherry on the palate. This is a bold wine. Fairly good finish, although mostly what I notice are the tannins, along with a very faint hint of cocoa dust. The wine needs about 45 minutes to start really opening up nicely. A great bargain on a very well made wine.
