on the tilt the color is a medium garnet with a thin, almost clear edging. the nose is tobacco shop, rose petal scented wax candle, cow patty, the dust you get on Bazooka bubble gum, and small layers of strawdustberry (in other words sawdust and strawberry). uh, great nose! up front a soft mouthfeel that brings a blend of dark sour cherries, plum, and a balanced, dusty oak. right away the mid palate glove leather tannins take over but the softness remains. the heat is a wee bit strong on first taste. a minor concern for me in that i'm not a fan of tasting alcohol over fruit but it starts to mellow quickly. plus the finish is also dry, dry, dry. and i'm liking it. there's also a chocolate Jello pudding fun pack snack thing from my childhood on the finish that's kinda cool. this needs some fat!
