Another of Helen's better Zins.. I particularly like the intensity of varietal character in this wine.. Big, spicy, notes of strawberry and jam.. Very nice indeed!

Lots of fruit, tannin, and acidity on the nose with an upfront punch of alcohol. This is not a balanced wine - way too much alcohol up front - which will likely dissipate over a few years. The mid-palate is just the fruit and nothing but the fruit. The wine has the classic Lodi Zin flavor but it is finessed and "snobbish." In other words, it it a cut above most Lodi Zins - you would have to try the Old Ghost Lodi or the Jessie's Grove Westwind to get a flavor of this Turley alcohol/fruitbomb/alcohol laden "su-preeze." I think had I waited to open this bottle, it might have a higher rating as I suspect it will develop some balance over the next few years. But if you are familiar with Turley wines, this one is Turley all the way...

Black Cherries black pepper and meat on the nose. also a big phenol component, but not in a bad way.

great mouth feel! figs, plums and that high alcohol heat at the finish with some pepper as well.
