Open for about an hour and a half. Nose is cherry and a strawberry hint, almost kool aid like, with a pinch of mint mixed with the sort of sweet smell of fresh cut hay, verry faint almost nonexistent vanilla. Must say really digging the combination of smells coming out. Taste is sort of blackberry and almost ripe yet still slightly sour cherry with a hint of cranberry. Not sweet or sour really. A bit if mineral water splash, little dryness, no heat or oak on finish which makes me wonder where the vanilla was coming from. A very smooth and balanced wine. While tasting I broke out some vanilla creme and chocolate creme wafers on a whim and have to say they both went well with this wine, the chocolate beating the vanilla. Also tried strawberry creme, which didn't go so well with it. Also tried Oreo cookies which had a residual aftertaste of cherry cordial. The super sugary filling in all of these sort of brought out the heat in this wine. Undoing the balancing of the finish. One of the best Burgudy's I've had in the $10 range, and a real deal at the $5 price I stumbled upon it at.
