Cline Ancient Vines 2005 Zinfandel
(over 2 years ago)I wish I had taken better notes when I tasted this a few days, ago! However, I can tell you that this wine was mellow, complex and earthy, low in tannins, and lacking any notes of vinegar. Costing a few dollars more than our usual wine budget, the taste exceeded what we expected for that minor extra cost. I definitely recommend this wine and would consider it as a gift bottle, too.

(over 2 years ago)I found this wine a little underwhelming. Don't get me wrong, it’s not bad, but I found it a little on the generic side. It’s got a very berry flavor profile with some oak, and a hint of vanilla. Not a lot of tannins, and a pretty short (rather unimpressive) finish. Like I said: It’s OK, but you can probably do better. I paired it with a grilled tri-tip steak, fingerling potatoes and corn, and the meal completely overshadowed the wine. 2.5 stars.
