Meursault
(10 months ago)tasted 12/07 robe - nice pale hay color with a slight flash of green. quite nice nose - revealing some hard white fruit, but mostly dominated by stoney mineral notes. the nose is quite dense but again has this feeling of hard stones_ no flower peddles here. palate - this comes with some stiff peaches, granny-smith apples and but again, mostly dominated by rocks and minerals. this is not a juicy wine. the acidity is firm and adds a good liveliness to the wine. it actually really carries the wine tot he end. this is not dominated by oak or cream. it is a hard wine that has a staunch sense of generosity. It is very " take it or leave it" i gave it opportunities all night. this wine has the body to go another 5 to 10. still quite young. re-buy -no note: I had this paired with a saffron pasta with lobster tale. not a very good choice. the spicy succulence of the pasta and fish did not jibe well. earlier, i had an 2001 Alsatian riesling with oysters. i wish i had them reversed.
