Hogue Riesling 2005
(over 2 years ago)This was not a very good wine. It had very low acidity, and it was a screw cap instead of corked. I should have known, as it had more of a sour instead of a sweet taste. There are much better Rieslings out there.

(about 1 year ago)Something just isn't right with this Riesling. None of that light, sweet and refreshing fruit. Questionable acidity and surprisingly sour/bitter taste hiding anything that might redeem this wine.
Hogue Riesling 2005
(about 1 year ago)If you could distill green apples into a white wine, this would be it. Very tart, very acidic, a very refreshing wine. Golden straw colored, with a hit of tart grapefruit and apple on the nose. The flavor isn't complex, more tart apple and citrus. The finish is appropriately short. This is a refreshing summer value pick. I'd rather have the Chateau Ste. Michelle, but for the price difference, this isn't a bad pick up at all. I know I'm the outlying score on this wine, which hasn't received very good reviews. Perhaps my low expectations were more easily exceeded, but I think this isn't lacking as a beverage. The best white wine? No. A good alternative to a fresh lemonade? Sure! Knock back a glass or two and enjoy...

(about 1 year ago)Flinty mineral notes hit the nose right away - very nice! A hint of citrus and some orchard fruit, too. Less acidity than a German Riesling, but just fine; off-dry taste yields some more delicious orchard fruit. Nice mouth feel. I REALLY like this wine, and contrary to other folks, I'm a big fan of screw caps (and synthetic corks). YMMV. This is probably my favorite non-German Riesling.

(about 1 year ago)screw cap or not - who cares? possible aroma of mango. Overly sweet for my taste, and has a bit of a harsh bite.

(about 1 year ago)Light apricot/mango on the nose. Slightly sweet, hints of green apple. The finish seems to linger a while.
