from klwines.com: 90 points Stephan Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Full red with an amber-tinged rim. Exotic, soil-inflected aromas of red berries, truffle, leather, mint and coffee, plus a whiff of coconutty oak. Sweet, broad and supple, but given shape by harmonious acids and sexy oak. A rather open-knit Brunello that should last well in bottle owing to its balance and concentration. Finishes with very fine tannins and excellent length." (Sep/Oct 04)

1999 La Colombina Brunello di Montalcino
(9 months ago)This is old world goodness!!! I love Brunello! The color was "aging"... lighter and amber/brown edging. The nose is deep and hard to pick, but if I must, licorice, tobacco, soil, sweet oak. On the palate, the acidity and fruit is upfront and LUCID (if that makes sense), but it is so balanced and lasting! ...+ or - evals... Distinct varietal character: +, Integration: +, Expressiveness: +, Complexity: +, Connectedness: +
