For five bucks I was only expecting a wine beverage but this turned out to be a nice surprise. Cherry and something else...maybe currant plus a hint of dirt.

Cherry plus some other fruit lurking in the background plus a nice dose of earth. A surprisingly nice wine for five bucks.

At $4.99 at Trader Joe's, this wine is comparable in cost to Charles Shaw ($2.99 in my area). It can definitely hang with wines priced twice as much. Had this with a marinated flank steak and it paired very nicely. Good aromas; delicious stuff. Not bad the 2nd night either. I think the Banrock Station Shiraz is better than their Cabernet Sauvignon. Would definitely buy again.
