Let’s see if this shizz can bring the thunder as rumored or if it’s just another over-rated wine people like to name drop. Out of the bottle this wine has a nice color, as expected. A really nice gentle smoked ham hock and potato pancake going on in the nose. Take a potato pancake and really make sure it’s chocked full of chives and cubed ham hock before frying a nice golden brown. Bingo. On the palate this wine is very lush, nice and silky with bursts of silky pillow goodness. Velvety ribbons with thick raspberries nestled amongst a heavy almost gourmet raspberry jello. A little one-dimensional on the palate for a wine of this caliber but what comes through is very nice. The finish brings some unexpected sage and black pepper, a little sea salt and mineral layer as well. A really nice wine. Less sophisticated then I was expecting, a little one trick pony action, but this is a nice wine.
