(over 2 years ago)A very fine cab, above and beyond the smaller price tag
Montes Alpha 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon
(over 2 years ago)LET HER BREATHE! Give it a rest, or decant before serving. Aggressive peat-like nose gives way to all kinds of interesting tannins. Oak prominent though not tyrannical, smokey, dried fruits neither floral nor sweet.

Montes Alpha 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon
(about 1 year ago)I agree with theineffablebob. This wine needs a couple hours of exposure to O2. Really nice dark chocolate, cigar box, and stately oak. The wood is exquisite... Oh, to bathe in that barrel for a year or two, or even an hour... free of all my cares...i am

(about 1 year ago)Spearmint nose, with a very nice mouth feel. Agree with others regarding breathing time. 2 hours was about right. Good tannins and long finish. Really nice wine for the price.
Montes Alpha 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon
(about 1 year ago)Lots of vanilla oak, dark chocolate, and dark dark fruit on the nose. The same on the pallet with some firm tannins. Fairly well-balanced but could use some more complexity. Tasty though.
Montes Alpha 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon
(about 1 year ago)Excellent, full-bodied Cabernet. Bit of spice, bit of oak. Nicely balanced. Drinkable. Recommended.
Montes Alpha 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon
(about 1 year ago)Its true, it needs to breathe, but not too long. An hour perhaps. Showing incredible drinakability in my opinion. Perhaps SLIGHTLY overoaked, but I really really dont mind when theres just so much balance between chocolate, blackcurrant, raspberry, vanilla, and a tiny bit of pepper, in a seductive, creamy, stately package. Well made. For an excellent representation of Chile- seek this wine out.
