Bertrand-Berge Fitou Cuvee Ancestrale 2004
(about 1 year ago)Huge body, deep deep color. There is a woody, forest type aspect to the nose. So many of the full bodied wines I've had the opportunity to try have been fruit bombs - this was a nice change. The alcohol may have been a little over the top but overall it felt pretty balanced. Neither too focused or too flabby. Highly recommended.

(about 1 year ago)Nose is somewhat tight. Some cherry, a little wood. & a hint of bacon fat. Nice red cherries off the tree on the attack. Somewhat hot. Good, but basic. Hint of chocolate on the finish. Good back end tannins. Polished, but a little boring.

(9 months ago)I could not remember the price of this wine when I tasted it and was pleasantly surprised. I would have guessed it was in the $25-$30 range. It is easy to drink, with some good fruit and cola, almost Dr. Pepper, aspects on the nose and more veggies on the palate, still surrounded by cola. The finish is a bit tight and brief, but I liked the sour apple component.
