Fruity, sweet, almost like honey.

This is a *superior* dessert wine. I usually serve it with homemade truffles, although it pairs beautifully with my mother's pear tarte tatin also. On the nose, strong scents of peaches, melon, honey, lychee, and pear. On the mouth, the fruit tastes come through beautifully, with very strong honey flavors. The wine has enough acid to keep it just a little sprightly, though: it's lush, but NEVER cloying. This is good enough to be served alone as a dessert, and graceful enough to pair with a variety of sweet foods, especially french-inspired pastries (where the wine cuts through the starches of the pastry to lift ordinary desserts into the heights of the divine), or chocolates (particularly bittersweet chocolate, where it adds just the right hint of sweetness to the experience). Combine that versatility with an attractive price for a dessert wine, and this is rapidly becoming my go-to wine for very special occasions. Serve it on any occasion that a Sauternes-sweet wine is called for: this is superior to most Sauternes that I've tasted.
