Plant date 1999 - 2004 Alcohol 14.5% Residual sugar 2.6 Total acid 5.6 Barrel ageing 60% America Oak, 40% French Oak ( 9 months) -- Positioned between two rugged mountain ranges near the Breede ("broad") river lies the picturesque valley where the de Wet family planted vineyards over 150 years ago. Excelsior Estate was founded when a large track of land was divided among three brothers (their father had purchased the land in 1859); the youngest named his portion "Excelsior". Stephen and Freddie de Wet now own the property, and are the fourth generation of de Wets to farm the land of their ancestors.

Very pleasant nose with black cherries. // On the palate, vanilla with hints of green pepper and spice. Finish has a nice leafy green salad aspect to it. Well balanced and enjoyable.
