Mas de la Barben La Danseuse 2003
(6 months ago)Color: Purple with reddish brown hues. Nose: At first very tight and young, giving way to strawberry jam and tobacco. Fruit preserves. Pepperiness--including peppercorns and bell pepper. Some stones and a hint of orange peel and marmalade developing as it breathes... Palate: Nice and smooth up front...approachable. Strawberry jam and black peppercorns. Really dry and tannic back palate with the feeling of citrus rind--orange and grapefruit rind. Medium-long finish.

(6 months ago)Color: Purple with a splash of red and brown. Smell: Nice mixture of spice (nutmeg and cinnamon) watered down fruit punch Taste: good fruit up front mid pallet is almost non existent but a very good coco and peppercorn finish and strong tannins that stick with you for a while.

(6 months ago)Dull dark red in color. Vegetable odors-- carrots, allspice, tobacco. Sort of a high-pitched sweetness on the nose--like industrial cleaner or cheap port wine. Almost, but not quite, cloying. Medium body, light bitter tannins.

(5 months ago)Nice. This wine was smooth and easy to drink. Not terribly fruity - I mostly got pepper and a hint of strawberry on the nose. strawberry repeats in the flavor profile, along with some real earthiness. I wouldn't run out to buy it again right away but I'd keep it in mind. It was definitely good to try.
