Yippee! A box wine that tastes really, really good! The bouquet is a little salty - "Salty?" Yeah...that's the best I can do. Kind of like pickle juice...but don't let my peculiar senses steer you away from Banrock's boxed Shiraz - first notes are rich, full and definitely nice. This is a thinner wine, but the lack of an "alcoholy" foretaste immediately sets the tone for good mid and fore notes. Definitely a "plum" flavor, Banrock Shiraz is pleasant with meat and stronger pasta sauces (I'd skip alfredo unless it's heavy on the garlic). Finish is tasty - a little linger on the palate, but in the way of a good bordeaux. Gee whiz, I'm glad to have found a Box Wine that doesn't need excuses. I'd pair this against Black Box's offering any day and save the four-eight bucks a box. Nice wine - buy a box and don't make any apologies.
