Like barely ripe blackberries on the edge of a foggy pine forest, this Merlot captures the flavor of the northern coast of California. I just served it with pork chops quickly sauteed and finished in a blackberry wine sauce (yes, picked from a foggy bramble down the street from my house), baked yams in their jackets, and fresh ruby chard stir-fried in garlic and olive oil. It was a pairing made in heaven. A bargain at my grocery store, I bought 3 bottles. There is a little medicinal taste, like bitters, mid-tongue. Needs food to balance it's tannins and acidity.
