Tasting Notes from Cork’d Members
Phoenix Blood of Jupiter Sangiovese 2004
(2 months ago)Certainly a more integrated style than I remember, this wine sacrificed some complexity and varietal character but is now a much more seamless Napa effort. Where previous vintages were earthy, edgy wines with grough tannins and some obvious Tuscan influence, this new vintage is ripe and round, offering much smoother notes of vanilla, black currant, and cherries. Both styles were nice, but for me there is no question there is an obvious movement toward a different goal for this wine in the 2004 vintage.
