2006 Bonterra Winery Merlot
(about 1 month ago)Appearance: Medium-Deep in color, a true Ruby color. Nose: Medium-Pronounced with aromas of wet-leaves, creek, earth with deep blueberries, strong violet, cloves, and blackpepper. Palate: off-dry with medium acidity and tannin with a high/viscous body and flavors of tobacco, prune, cedar-woody, and blackberry jam. The length is sort of flat with no excitement, and the finish lasts for around four seconds or so. Conclusion: There is a hint of oak, but it is slight. This is a very decent Merlot and the earthy aroma is really up my alley. The fruit is clean and overall it is nice, but just lacking excitement. For the price, I recommend it, and I can't see many people being dissapointed by it.
