Freixenet Cordon Negro Cava Brut
(over 2 years ago)I buy this all the time. It's my favorite inexpensive sparkling wine. I'd give it 3.5 but they don't allow half stars. Sometimes bottles are a 4.

(over 2 years ago)Brilliant pale yellow in colour. Fine and persistent cripsness. Clean and light on the palate with an elegant finish. Dry and fresh.
It is definately worth the price and sure to be a crowd pleaser.

(over 2 years ago)This is my standard "party sparkling." We served it at our wedding 7 years ago, and at our Christmas brunch parties every year since. For the price, it's a great sparkling wine -- light, dry, very bubbly. Keep a bottle in the fridge for "everyday" celebrations.

(about 1 year ago)Good with salads and appetizers (lighter fare), but fell apart later on when we were still sipping after the meal.

(about 1 year ago)Beautiful color, a bit darker than most in its price range, yet not quite buttery. On the nose I detected almonds & walnuts, an addition to apricots and bitter apples. Second glass bitter apple is coming through very strong. This nose is nice and rounded, not nearly as overbearing and sharp as a "crisp" sparkling, but still interesting. Taste is very similar, lots of green apples, a slight touch of fruity sweetness (not by any means sweet, only a hint) and a very slight background nuttiness that seems to give the wine body. I truly like this Cava, and think it will be a regular (especially for the price!!) This wine is not aggressive enough to stand through a meal, but as a casual drink, I think it would be fine, and I would serve it at a party with no hesitation! Very good effort, and taking into account the price, a wonderful bubbly! Enjoy!!
