I'm still trying to figure out what this beast called Pinot is all about. Last night I had a mind blowing Pinot rose sparkler from Alsace. Tonight I get into this neat thing from Campion which reminds me of nothing more than a Rhone blend, and in fact that's what I'd have named it if tasting blind. It has that neat watery thing going on along with some berry - I'll call it cranberry - and a nice earthiness that I really like in a Pinot. No shrooms, but I'll forgive it that. Only the finish - that faint hint of earthtone and stems - gives it away as Pinot Noir. A nice wine, much better than any $15 pinot I've had.
