The Guilty Shiraz
(over 2 years ago)George Shinas, a criminal judge in Victoria Australia, makes only one wine, a single vineyard Shiraz from vines that were first planted in 1898. A beautifully scented nose of acacia flowers, black fruits, and spicy new oak, its full bodied with excellent ripeness, loads of flavor from mid-palate to end, and a very long, impressive finish with plenty of black cherry and cassis. The available qunatities of this wine are so small, its a crime. Extremely limited.
The Guilty Shiraz
(about 1 year ago)Definitely without a doubt my favorite Shiraz in the world. I love it. It is perfectly balanced, a ton of fruit, but some real depth to it.

(about 1 year ago)On the nose, there is big, jammy fruit; black cherry, blackberry, strawberry, and a little cassis. Maybe a little wet dirt mixed in. On the palate it hits you with a controlled explosion of the above mentioned fruits, i.e. fruit bomb. However, the fruit unfolds in a pleasant way that doesn't hit you all at once. The mouthfeel is silky. Tannins are balanced. The finish lingers. This is a wonderfully made Shiraz.
The Guilty Shiraz
(about 1 year ago)Tons of clean fruit to start with a VERY spicey finish. This wine takes classic Aussie Shraz flavors and amplifies it. I think I would have liked this wine better a couple more years down the road.
The Guilty Shiraz
(about 1 year ago)Nose: Raspberries, wet cedar, oak, spice, some blackberries, and a little vanilla.
Taste: Woo, raspberries! Also blackberries, sour cherries, and a little bit of blueberry. There's also plenty of spice, along with some cedar and vanilla oak (eh, not quite enough to deter me). Mouthfeel is lush, dense, and surprisingly silky; my palate expected a much rougher ride than this, what with all the spice and hyperberry flavor. A spicy raspberry/blackberry tang coats my mouth and persists on the long finish.
If this wine had a touch more oak, I probably wouldn't like it. It's just shy of the danger level on my palate's oak-o-meter. And it's a fruit bomb (woo, raspberries!)—another almost-strike against this wine. And it's a little hot (15.2% alcohol)—that should be strike three. And yet... I think I've fallen victim to the spice and berries here: those flavors keep me from hating or even disliking The Guilty. What can I say? It's tasty.
The Guilty Shiraz
(9 months ago)Wow. I am not normally a big fan of Shiraz, but this one is fucking awesome. It's really full-bodied and flavorful, with a long spicy finish. A+++++
