Green on the nose, mostly smells like bell pepper and jalapeño peppers.

This wine was very acidic and tasted of citrus and peppers and TONS of minerals. If you want to know what a wine that tastes like rocks is like, this is a good one to try.

Overall I liked this wine. I thought it had a good finish and interesting flavors.

Fresh and fruity. The smell is subtle but full. Smells sweeter than it tastes - high in nose. Taste is round. Peaks first and finishes fast with a fruity hint remaining (pear, grapefruit). Very drinkable. We got this for a gift and bought another bottle!

OK, I've been slacking off on reviewing wines lately. I've been acting a bit like a lush and just drinking them without doing too much analysis besides 'gulp - mmmm, gooood.' Not a good sign I suppose.

I was moved today to actually make some notes on this wine after guzzling many bottles without notetaking. It's been sitting in my cellar, bought after many recommendations from enthusiastic fellow winos in both of the stores I frequent. Since my cellar is getting short on everyday wines until payday, I broke it out in sheer desperation.

I have to say, given the enthusiasm I've seen from others, this wine did not disappoint, despite the less-than-appetizing nose. Unfortunately, all I could really pick up on the nose is the sulfur. It smelled like perm solution. If I really strained my brain I could pick up some crisp apple, but the nose was really closed aside from the chemical smell. It certainly didn't scream 'drink me.'

But drink I did. The initial impression was that it had a HUGE midpalate. So big it actually felt like the roof of my mouth was being blown off. The midpalate is huge, big and round. Massively so.

Great crisp acidity. Some crisp, tart apple. Tons of Asian spice. There are about a bazillion fruit flavors here that I am utterly failing to identify, all crisp and tart and wonderful. A bit of citrus, but overall I wouldn't tag this as a citrusey wine. More appley and pearey with spice.

Medium finish. Utterly delish. I'll be buying more of this one. It's the polar opposite of the usual fruitier, sweeter whites I usually drink. I'm really jamming on the spice in this one! I'm thinking of all the possible food pairings with this. Yum!

Aggressively grassy nose but with lime and a little something tropical. Textbook NZ Sauvignon. Subtle peach and melon flavors join the citrus and grass on the palate. It’s crisp and clean, but there is a bit of creamy heft to it as well.

Nice stuff. If you like the NZ SB style, this one won’t disappoint at a reasonable price. If you don’t like the NZ SB style, I doubt this one will change your mind. If you still haven’t tried one, this is a decent place to start as it’s pretty true to the style.

Always a sure bet SB - I love pineapple, and this has tons of it on the palate: beautiful juicy fruit, nice acidity, also a bit of grass. Consistently good year to year.

Good price, although I cannot generally find it for the sub $15 price many of you get it for unless I drive 20 minutes or more.

Trader Joe's purchase, $14.99, 13% alcohol. Not in my usual bottom-feeding price point, but I had a gift card... :) Lovely pale yellow-gold. On the nose, grapefruit, lime, tropical fruit, rain-washed granite, grass, faint green pepper. Palate dominated by juicy pineapple and tangy pink grapefruit. Lip-smacking acidity, nice sweet/tart linger. Outstanding and delicious!

I've really enjoyed this wine too. I can usually catch it for $12.99 in the Massachusetts market- so consistently delicious and readily available. Cheers!

i tasted this wine a year ago and was blown away by it. In your face aromatics as well as fruit and creamy in the mouth. But i just had it again last night and it had flattened out a bit, not as much guava and passionfruit, now it was more grassy, lemon and citrus. So i am ready for the 2009.
