Medium bodied, crystal clear, ruby red. Super long finish, light tannins, soft in the mouth. The nose went through a series of nice changes. Started with strawberries, at some point smelled something like raisins then moved on to a bit of lovely leather and dry fruits, but kept the berries throughout. My tasting partner noted that it has a Sherryish/nutty/marzapan overtone to the nose at the start, which is very distinctive of the Lopez Heredia wines Overall it was very elegant, soft in the mouth. Still had tonnes of life in it and could probably go for another 20 years aging. Delicious.. easily one of the nicest Riojas I've ever had.
