L'esprit du Silene
(over 2 years ago)Evoking "wide open space with rolling hills," this full-bodied wine from the Mediterranean coast of France is redolent with the scent of currant and prune. L'esprit du Silene starts with the taste of sweet fruit and ends in a "dry satisfaction." Complex and deep, this wine has a long finish with hints of leather and carraway. A unique feature of this wine is that it leaves a feeling in the mouth after drinking that is much like the feeling after eating dried persimmons. It most resembles a nice Syrah--not as dry, but with more sweetness, especially early in the tasting. This wine, in my opinion, would probably go well with beef and lamb, but it's quite delicious when drunk alone and in half-bottle quantities.
