Famega Vinho Verde 2006
(over 2 years ago)Light summer wine from Portugal. Under 10% alc (9.6 I believe). While I liked this my wife thought it tasted like beer. I could see it being compared to a Zima actually, not that most would consider that a good thing.

(about 1 year ago)A very good beginning wine. So fruity and it's almost effervescent or carbonated! Very big lemon, lime and citrus notes. It *will* make you hungry. At this price, it's an amazingly good wine value. Would buy a case for warm summer nights or light lunches. Or shrimp.

(about 1 year ago)Pale green-yellow color with light body. Light citrus and fruit scent. Slightly sparkling (frizzante?) as I've heard some vinho verdes can be. Slight lemony taste, with some saline character as it sits. Limited bright acidity, light mouthfeel. A good summer wine, think it would go well with most light meats especially cooked fish or sushi, and not bad by itself.

(about 1 year ago)Light and refreshing with tiny bubbles. Uncomplicated and fun. Great sipping for a summer afternoon.

(about 1 year ago)Fâmega is, as all vinho verde wines, light and fantastically refreshing. This one is bubblier than most, with a light citrus flavor, and also some hints of actual green flavors… sort of crisp and almost vegetable. Celery? I don’t know, I feel like that sounds like a bad thing to say that wine tastes like, but people say wine tastes like all kind of stupid things. The bubbles are really at the forefront, sharp and pleasing on the tongue, and the wine is only a little sweet. This wine is crisp and refreshing, and perfect for disgusting hot New York nights.

(about 1 year ago)Great wine for screaming hot Texas summer nights. Light, a bit fruity, a bit bubbly, and a fantastic value. A May-Sept favorite around our house!

(about 1 year ago)Great citrius and apple(?) notes; light bodied, awesome value. Slightly sharp near the end with a crisp finish -- great summer sipping wine.

(7 months ago)Nice, light, and refreshing. Has a light carbonation, like a spritz. Low alcohol content (9.5%). Really citrusy. Would be a great summer wine.
