Émigré 2002 Red
(over 2 years ago)This wine has the characteristicly smooth body that seems to be shared by the other Barossa Valley reds I've tried lately, but unfortunately it also has a strong alcohol taste (although my wife disagrees). Beyond that it is rich, thick, heavy, and satisfying with a hearty meal of steak on the grill. At USD$49.99/bottle, I hoped this would be the pinnacle of my "tour" of the Valley from my living room, but I'm not sure that this wine is overall as good as some of the others I've tried. I have second bottle that I'm planning to cellar for a few years, and I really want to compare it against the Torbreck 2004 Cuvée Juveniles when the time comes to open it.
