Red Wine Cabernet Sauvignon by Root 1 from Chile, South America. Deep ruby color, intense aromas of red fruits and cassis, with some hints of vanilla. Well balanced with soft tannins and good structure. Abundance of fruit flavors like cherries and plums, with a complex and long finish. The grapes for Root:1 are... Continued at wine.com ›

Root 1 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon
(over 2 years ago)This wine comes in an extremely beautifully-designed bottle, and that's about the best that our group could say for it. "I don't like cabernet, but I had a cabernet the other night that wasn't this bad," said one of our tasters. "That stuff was drinkable, but this stuff... I didn't want to take a second sip." This wine has a fairly unpleasant taste and a fairly bitter aftertaste. Steer clear – or buy some, pour out the contents and use the bottle to decorate your kitchen.

(over 2 years ago)Not our favorite cabernet, but it was a nice wine to have outside at a restaurant. There was definitley a fruity taste to it.
Root 1 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon
(over 2 years ago)Decent. Dark both in aroma and in taste. Somewhat bitter, but not too displeasing. A little more expensive than most medium-priced wines at $11-13 (US) per bottle. The bottle is gorgeous, somewhat more pleasing than the wine.
Root 1 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon
(over 2 years ago)This is a smooth, bold cab-lovers' cab with a rich, earthy aroma and taste. Very fruit forward with hints of blackberry and vanilla. We had a tasting at a friend's last night with pinot noir, merlot, red zin, and this cab. All were OK, but drinking this rich cab was like coming home. It needs time to breath before one drinks it (1-2 hours). That may be the problem some of the reviewers have had, they opened it and didn't give it enough time before pouring and tasting. I was a little disappointed the first time I had it, but came to realize it was because I hadn't given it time enough to breath. Now it's about my favorite cab. Enjoy!

(over 2 years ago)I agree with the comment that this one needs to breathe a little. My first taste would have left me siding with the more negative reviews, but I decided to give it another go and popped in a movie. When I came back to it the flavors really came out more, and it turned out to be delicious. I'm usually not much of a Cabernet fan, but I'll probably pick this up again next time I'm having guests.
Root 1 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon
(about 1 year ago)I wasn't so impressed with this wine. The flavors seemed faded to the point where they were hard to distinguish, and there was little to no finish. I did let this one breathe for quite some time, but to no avail. I had high hopes for this one seeing as it was one of the first I've had from Chile, and a lot of good things have been said about the old vines from that country. If anyone can recommend a typical Chilean Cabernet, I'd be appreciative.
